Road trip coast transition

Now that my California road trip is over and I'm back in the east coast grind I thought it would be fun to put together all of the shots I took of the scenery as I was driving. Which was 100% safe. I'm hoping it will show the transition from beach to lush to redwood, but I guess we'll see in a few minutes!

Drumroll...

OK, so it didn't turn out to be the smooth slideshow I had hoped for, but I was driving so there. Still, really cool trip with really amazing scenery every mile of the way.

Day 5 - peace out, LA!

Today was my last day in LA. Lar and I had one last brunch on the ocean, this time at Rodando.

We (read: I) chose this diner because it was where they filmed a lot of scenes from the OC there. I wore my new OC hoodie because I couldn't help myself. Slash I had a little photo shoot. Lar was a great sport.

After brunch I picked up my rental car (a red Jetta) and  hit the road heading North, thus beginning my great Californian road trip. I was really psyched about being RIGHT ON the coast, so naturally I kept taking pictures of the views while I was driving. Safe.

Eventually I want to put them all together in sequence to show the slow change of scenery as the desert blends into rocky cliffs to greenery to redwoods, but I'm lazy so you might not see that for a while. Sorry folks.

A night out in LA

After spending a spectacular day in the OC Lar and I went out with her friend Brian. We picked him up and made our way to the One-Eyed Gypsey to hear some LA-folk music. After driving in circles for about an hour we made it there only to find a chain on the door and a hand written sign saying they were closed for the night. Effers.

So we went to their sister bar (I can't remember the name). It seemed like an old warehouse or barn or something, and the walls didn't go all the way up to the ceiling. It was pretty sweet because you had the fresh air of being outside without the wind ruining everything. (Fun fact: It's rumored that this place was a brothel in the 1920's.)

It was a Wednesday night so the place was nearly empty, which was just the way I like it. We easily got a seat at the back of the room with a clear view of the man playing some solo blues guitar. The music was good and not over powering, and we even danced for a hot second.

The drinks were fancy-schmancy and damn tasty. Check out this ice ball:

After the music wrapped up we went to one of Lar and Brian's favorite places for some Korean-style tacos. We got there at, like 12:02 only to have the bar tender tell us that the kitchen closed at midnight and they had a strict 'no late orders' policy. Heffers.

We hung our heads and headed home, but I've been promised I'll receive one of these tacos in the mail. I'm waiting.
