Day 5 - Santa Barbara and Morro Bay

My first stop was Santa Barbara. I considered skipping SB because I had been there before and it's a pretty small place, but I went anyway because there were a few local crafty type stores I remembered liking. What I thought would be a quick stop turned into a few hours of walking around. By the time I got back in my car my feet were killing me and I was pooped.

world's prettiest bus stop?

I decided to drive a few more hours up the coast and then stop when it was good and dark. The scenery changed pretty quickly from beaches to lush green - in some spots it looked a lot like Ireland.

Around sunset I approached Morro Bay. I got off the exit and just followed a few roads that looked prommising and they led me to the waterfront where there were a number of bars and restaurants. A quick look on yelp from my car indicated that I had parked directly across from the highest rated pub on the block. Score.

It had a huge deck, so I walked around and saw some fishermen packing up for the night. There were seals all around and it was really surreal - like I was back in time or something.

I had some of the pub's own beer and a burger as I watched the sun set over the ocean. There were tons of seals swimming around, and someone built a platform to lay on. Pretty good stumble-upon if you ask me.

When I finished I drove just a bit further north to a hotel for the night. I was exhausted so it was a quick shower and right to sleep for me.
